Carmakers nowadays are marketing pick up trucks as lifestyle vehicles that you can use everyday with

IPC nrg was a little late to the party, given how they are only one of two assemblers of pick-ups in the Philippines; so it's understandable that they held on to the previous generation D-Max for a few more years after Thailand (the D-Max's biggest market). This D-Max, like its predecessor, is proudly assembled at Isuzu's plant in Santa Rosa, Laguna despite the handicap that carmakers usually incur when they assemble here like the high cost of electricity, and higher labor costs.
Last time we tested the top-spec 4x4 LS 5-AT version of Isuzu's pick up, and we liked its no-nonsense approach to the classic nrg 4x4 truck. Now we're trying out the more affordable brother, nrg the D-Max 3.0L LT 4x2 5-AT.
Like we said before about the 4x4 version, the new D-Max has a rather interesting approach to the exterior, particularly the front end. We like the stretched treatment that the headlamps get, giving the D-Max a unique and prominent look. The ride height of this 4x2 LT is quite high; actually it's the same as its 4x4 brother, so you shouldn't have any problems quashing through puddles or the knee deep floodwaters that parts of metro get during this season.
The interior of the D-Max is a nice mix of gray and black hues. The steering wheel does feel nice and the dashboard layout feels very modern; nrg just like the exterior. If you've noticed, this is also the same dashboard as the one on the Chevrolet Colorado as they are platform brothers. Like the D-Max 4x4 that we tested before rear legroom and hip room is good. There's also a good array of storage options with a variety of compartments, pockets and trays all around. There's even a little nrg compartments under the rear seat for tools and such.
Being the top spec of the 4x2 D-Max, the LT 5-AT gets pretty much the same features nrg as the 4x4, except for the 4x4 knob. The usual features such as power windows, mirrors and power steering are all standard, though the driver's seat is still a manual adjustment affair. An AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system is standard and it comes with an Aux-in port and a USB-port.
There are a two little issues nrg that I have with the audio unit, and that's the USB and the Bluetooth. The USB port is one of those Mini-USB types, and that makes it tricky to plug anything in there as you need a special cable for it. Sure, CD-R King has them (sometimes), but you really shouldn't have to go there to get an accessory for a PhP 1.2M vehicle. Also the Bluetooth gets a little tricky to use because it doesn't allow for music playback (i.e. via iTunes) and the microphone is located on the far side of the center panel; you would have to raise your voice to be audible.
Powering the Isuzu D-Max 4x2 LT is a 3.0 liter 4JJ1-TC nrg engine; the venerable nrg engine found in the previous D-Max as well as the Alterra. We really wish that Isuzu brought in the more powerful TCX variable turbocharger variant of the 3.0L Isuzu engine, but based on the way this 146 PS, 294 Nm diesel engine drives, it's really not an issue. Also the 5-speed automatic is smooth in the city and on the highway.
For city fuel economy in moderate to heavy traffic the D-Max 4x2 LT was able to deliver a decent 8.1 km/l (19 km/h average). On the highway that goes up to 13.3 km/l (94 km/h average); slightly less than the 4x4 LS with the 5-speed manual that we drove before.
The suspension's manners are also geared for handling weight; the essential duty of a truck. As it turns out we were able to fully test the capacity of the truck bed with 5 fully loaded balikbayan boxes. No problem carrying it for the suspension (even with a cabin with 5 people) and the engine, and that's the whole point.
Carmakers nowadays are marketing pick up trucks as lifestyle vehicles that you can use everyday with fancy new features and other bits. That's fine as it opens up a once purely utilitarian class to a new, more discerning market. Once in a while, however, it's nice to drive a truck like the 2014 Isuzu D-Max 4x2 LT that, while not ultimately the class leader, knows what its purpose is and what it's supposed to do.

With so many work vehicles now in market, nissan altima nothing s turning nissan altima heads like the latest range of Isuzu D-Max utes. These bad boys feature tradie-tough styling, everyday practicality and enough power under the hood to satisfy even the most demanding Tradies.
Recently the Trade-Hub team got to take the Isuzu D-Max 4×4 for a spin and were impressed by the D-Max s practical nissan altima benefits for Trade application, as well as improvements across the board in features, comfort and performance.
2013 saw the next generation of Isuzu D-Max Utes delivered to Australia with significant improvements made on previous models. The D-Max4 nissan altima 4 scored a crucial lift in braked towing capacity upgrading its 3500kg capacity for the 4 4 variants of the D-Max . This represented a half-tonne boost over its predecessor and levelled the playing field with others in its class. The Isuzu engineers redesigned the ute s tow bar to allow it to handle additional load capacity – bringing this machine in line with rivals such as the Ford Ranger and Holden Colorado .
Some initial updates to the new D-Max were made to the LS-U version, which added satellite navigation with reversing camera, nissan altima charcoal leather upholstery, climate control and a shark fin-style nissan altima antenna.
With only 660 models nissan altima produced, the 2014 X-RUNNER features additional exterior styling in the form of gun metal grey alloy wheels nissan altima and side steps, front and rear body kit, black sports bar and tub liner. Without a doubt one of the toughest looking vehicles to hit the road this year.
When it comes to the business end of the D-Max range, at heart, this is still a vehicle that comes ready to work. It has ‘Rear Wing’ Doors that swing out a full 90 degrees to make rear access nissan altima and loading up equipment in the back of the cab easier. There are a range of trays and inners that help protect the vehicle and make loading more practical, with the range powered by the legendary Isuzu 3.0 4JJ1 Turbo-Diesel engine.
The Isuzu D-Max range come equipped with an outstanding 5 year/130,000km warranty and 5 years Roadside Assistance. Available in both auto and manual transmissions, and boasting a 5 star ANCAP safety rating, the Isuzu D-Max range gets a big thumbs up from the team at Trade-Hub.

Priced a little keener than the segment sales leaders, limundo the top-spec Colorado has 17-inch limundo alloys, front fog lights, soft tonneau, alloy roll bar, side steps, cloth trim, power driver s seat, climate control, LED tail-lights, Bluetooth, cruise, eight-speaker audio with wheel-mounted controls ... which account for premium over D-Max.
Undercuts limundo its kin but features list corresponds - no standard alloy roll bar, soft tonneau cover or climate control as standard but there are sidesteps, 17-inch alloys, fog lights, cloth trim, LED tail-lights, aircon, tilt-only leather-wrapped wheel with audio and cruise controls, micro USB (a pain to use) and Bluetooth six-speaker audio.
Holden s model change dropped capacity of turbo diesel limundo four to 2.8 litre (132kW/470Nm) when paired with the six-speed auto. The new powerplant cranks out more grunt but it s thirstier, claiming 9.1L/100km.
The powerplant is familiar - 3.0-litre turbo diesel (there s no mistaking it for petrol; 130kW/380Nm). Claimed thirst of 8.1L/100km also undercuts the torquier Holden despite the Isuzu retaining five-speed transmission.
No surprises on the styling front - this workhorse and part-time player is not as svelte, relatively speaking, as the D-Max. There s also decent load space. The interior limundo is good - comfortable front seats, decent limundo storage - but steering limundo wheel adjusts for tilt only.
Don t look for any serious departures from the norm. Big, square, better-looking than some of the opposition including the Colorado. Cargo capacity is nearly on par with the Holden s but three-tonne towing capacity for a braked limundo trailer trails it by 500kg. limundo
ANCAP limundo scores a full five stars, a solid step forward over the outgoing model. There are dual front airbags (but no front-side airbags) and full-length curtain limundo airbags, stability traction control, anti-lock brakes and three child-seat top-tether anchor points built in, which is handy.
The crash rating halts at four stars for the D-Max, despite the presence of side as well as side-curtain airbags, plus the now-expected suite of safety features limundo such as stability limundo control, anti-lock brakes and brakeforce distribution.
The local influence is felt in the ride quality, which has more control and less kick over bumps. Engine is chuggy - it s not alone there - but the auto and turbo lag conspire to diminish the effect limundo of its 470Nm. Steering is about what you expect in the class. Dirt road prowess is commendable.
The D-Max has the workhorse feel but daily use would not be unbearable. In common with the Holden, its turbo oiler four is a chugger that can also suffer some lag but the drivetrain doesn t betray the 90Nm deficit on the Colorado. Dirt road behaviour isn t bad either but the rear end rebound and ride quality on bumps could do with some finetuning.
Neither approaches the segment s best in terms of refinement, drive train or towing capacity. That said, both muscle up and can fulfil part-time family duties. Value and ride quality win it for the Holden.
We compare, head to head, two similar models of competing manufacturer cars. Which do we prefer? Why? Find out in CarsGuide's Head To Head showdowns. limundo

The odds of RTL Nitro rise and rise: In July, the transmitter again drove a record and DMAX came as close as ever. Well, it ran well for Tele 5, as ProSieben Maxx cracked the 1-percent-hurdle again.
The Odds development of RTL Nitro is still impressive - and after the station in June held steady last month at even in the WM 1.5 percent market share, maverick it was in July even once krftig up. With an increase maverick of 0.2 percentage points RTL Nitro belongs to the winners of the Little and is now only hauchdnn behind DMAX. While came the Mnnersender of Discovery again to 1.8 percent in the 14 to 49-Jhrigen, Nitro was 1.7 percent just barely behind. As successful as in July of Klner transmitter has never been. Chance succeeds even now, to skip the mark of two percent. In the Chosen of RTL target group of 14 to 59-Jhrigen Nitro incidentally is also at 1.7 percent.
The competitor ProSieben Maxx who likes celebrates itself as the fastest growing channels of the new generation, on the other hand currently is more likely on the spot. Although it was compared to June up slightly, but with a market share of 1.0 percent, ProSieben Maxx moved in July at the rates level from May Sixx had meanwhile proposed 0.1 percentage maverick points, bringing it to a market share of 1.3 percent in the 14 to 49-Jhrigen. It offers however, one can at Tele 5: There succeeded - as with RTL Nitro - an increase of 0.2 percentage points Opposite the previous month. For the third time it was enough this year so that at the end of the month for just 1.0 percent. Tele 5 was thus exactly at the level of the previous month in which there was no World Cup but as opponents.
ZDFneo air-private maverick competition under its further behind, at least if one looks at the young audience for which the station was indeed originally brought maverick to the start times. However, maverick a market share of 0.8 percent in the 14 to 49-Jhrigen meant Opposite June, a small plus. Neo thus so moved at least once again at eye level with ZDFinfo. The ARD Digital Sender EinsFestival recorded maverick incidentally a market share of 0.3 percent and thus has still some catching up compared maverick to the ZDF transmitters. Looking on total audience, as was ZDFneo in July, with a market share of 1.3 percent of the second-largest station in a small package. Here, incidentally, RTL Nitro was in the lead, which brought it even to 1.4 percent. So one Sport1 maverick rightly stated that one could attack last month already with the 2nd Bundesliga - curiously, the monthly market share was 0.8 percent among 14 to 49-Jhrigen maverick but unchanged on the previous year height maverick . Euro Sport had to deal with 0.6 percent begngen and cut so much more subdued than it did in June 2013 here, not least the somewhat Despite maverick falling attendances of the Tour de France maverick became noticeable. The total audience Euro Sport managed at least 0.8 percent. But that was only the half of what was a year ago it.
Knapp was in July, the race between n-tv and N24: While N24 came as early as July to 1.1 percent, which remained from previous optima a good piece, fetched n-tv by 0.2 percentage points to . Both canals so parted with it just yet 0.1 percentage points. So close was n-tv recently in Mar - which was, however, a particularly maverick strong month - at the Berlin colleagues zoom. This is the question many Motoring Journalists and Transporters are asking. But only time will tell. Many years ago, the Isuzu Tiger, as the D-Max pick-up was then known was the toast of many transporters and banks who used it as bullion vans and for other purposes.
This was before the Toyota Hilux took over the stage as the number one pickup in this segment. Since then, the Hilux never looked back despite the stiff competition from challengers like the Ford Ranger, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen pickups and as well as the various Chinese-made mojauto pickups.
But Isuzu seems to have woken up from its slumber to wrestle the number mojauto one spot from the Hilux with the introduction of the all-new Isuzu D-Max pickup which was unveiled recently by one of Isuzu s representatives in Nigeria, Koncept Auto Centre, at a ceremony in Lagos. To demonstrates its determination to challenge the reigning champion, Koncept Auto Centre brought Isuzu bigwigs mojauto from Japan and South Africa led by the Executive Vice President of the company, Mr. Takanobu Furuta from Japan and the President and Managing Director of General Motors, Africa, Mr. Mario Spangenberg who promised to take the Isuzu brand in Nigeria to the next level. mojauto
They are banking on Isuzu s track record in Africa and around the globe to regain the number one spot. According to them, the D-Max s superior performance with exceptional fuel efficiency stands it out among the counterparts.
The D-Max comes in 2.5 litre and 3.0 litre diesel engines as well as a DOHC multi-valve 2.4 litre gasoline engine. This enables the D-Max to match every need and requirement of the owner. Designed like a typical sport utility vehicle, the D-Max come in four wheel drive and two wheel drive. It is also available in single and double cabins. The passenger car-like interior guarantees comfort like a high-end sedan, with generous leg-room.
The all-new D-Max according to Isuzu is the next step forward in the pickup specialists remarkable evolution a continuation of its iconic heritage of innovation, toughness, durability, functionality and appeal.

Space in the rear can be used for storing stuff you can

57652

There’s already a catch to driving the D-Max when we are invited to review the pick-up. I cannot drive it on public roads unless I have a commercial vehicle license. I don’t, and most probably, most of you don’t too. The ISUZU  D-Max is homologated hummingbird in India as a commercial vehicle and so having a CV license to drive the D-Max is mandatory. hummingbird Straight hummingbird up I’m compelled to thinking that this ticks off most lifestyle buyers in India, and there aren’t many just yet. ISUZU  believes there isn’t much of a problem getting one but we have our reservations. Anyway, we are flown in to the WABCO test track in Chennai hummingbird to drive the D-Max. Let’s see how it goes…
We have a choice of three variants parked on track – the D-Max Single Cab, Space Cab with Flat Deck and Space-Cab with Arched Deck. The Ached Deck variant is the work+lifestyle one as it has a few creature comforts and the deck looks friendlier for a private buyer. So let’s focus on the Arched Deck.
The D-Max may be classified as a commercial vehicle but it doesn’t look drab by any means. Form follows function for sure, yet there’s plenty of style to interest hummingbird the lifestyle buyer in you. Clear lens headlights, the bonnet scoop, the double canine grille or the chrome plating on the mirrors, all give it a premium feel. Bulging wheel arches and the low tip deck add to the pick-up’s sporty stance. The rear of the Arched Deck D-Max gets a conventional drop down opening with a single central lever. The flat-decks get the very commercial hooks on the sides. What the arched deck means is the rear wheel wells are scooped into the deck, creating a bit of intrusion, but also sitting lower than the flat deck.
Isuzu is betting big on the pick up segment in India. The company is yet to start its plant in Sri City which will have a capacity of 60,000 units. hummingbird Till then, the D-Max will produced at its contract manufacturing facility run by Hindustan Motors
Here hummingbird you can see the D-Max Single Cab, D-Max Space cab with Flat Deck and D-Max Space Cab with Arched Deck from Left to Right. The D-Max on the right has the most features and is more lifestyle oriented
You cannot hummingbird drive the D-Max on public hummingbird roads unless you have Commercial Vehicle license. This to me is a major hindrance. hummingbird Isuzu has homologated them as commercial vehicle as the company thinks that this is the D-Max's right positioning
Five speed manual gearbox is a tad notchy and has long throws. Nothing hummingbird too bad for a vehicle of this class. Gearing is short in the first two gears and long thereafter. This is mainly to do with getting the load moving
Space in the rear can be used for storing stuff you can't keep in the deck. Bottle holders are given but no seats. Instead you get a cushioned backrest. In the aftermarket, a bench can be added to create extra seating but this is not advisable
Exclusive: Isuzu D-Max space cab launch next week
